Dental insurance
can be purchased either individually or it may be provided to you as an
employee benefit.
Dental insurance can come in three forms, it can be either a PPO
(Preferred Provider Organization) a HMO (Health Maintenance
Organization) or an Indemnity plan. |

A
PPO plan allows you to choose a provider from a list of providers, where
as an HMO plan requires you to select a provider from a list of
providers. If you use a provider not listed, you will usually have
to pay more out of pocket. The third type is the Indemnity plan
where you can use any provider and you are not confined to a list of
providers. The Indemnity plan is usually more
expensive since it give you more choices of providers.

In California the
main carriers are Blue Cross, PMI
Delta Care, Delta Dental, Pacificare, Golden West and Blue Shield. A
